What belongs in an XML sitemap

No. A sitemap helps discovery, but search engines still decide whether a page is useful, canonical, crawlable, and worth indexing.

Should I include noindex pages?

No. Keep noindex, private, duplicate, and blocked pages out of the sitemap.

What should lastmod mean?

`lastmod` should represent a meaningful content update, not every deploy, template change, or analytics event.
